Membership Statement

The Kappa Nu Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. embodies a lifelong dedication to sisterhood, scholarship, and service through welcoming new members, continuing the journey with our seasoned sorors, and embracing those who rededicate themselves to our cause at the graduate level. Our sisterhood transcends the San Fernando Valley, connecting a global network of accomplished professional women committed to uplifting, empowering, and supporting one another.

Sigma Gamma Rho's proud legacy of improving the quality of life for women and communities worldwide is realized through the tireless efforts of our members, who are steadfast in advancing the principles of sisterhood, scholarship, and service in every aspect of their lives. Joining Kappa Nu Sigma means becoming part of a rich tradition of excellence, where each member contributes to a collective vision of progress and positive change.

New members of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. are accepted on both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Each local chapter will publicize when they are accepting new members, and will hold information sessions to share the sorority’s values and membership expectations, and explain the membership intake process.

Sisterhood, Scholarship & Service

Kappa Nu Sigma Alumnae Chapter, San Fernando Valley, Ca.

Graduate membership is open to women who have earned a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited four-year college or university. Candidates should embody integrity, leadership, and a commitment to service in their personal and professional lives. Graduate members join through alumnae chapters, where they continue the legacy of sisterhood, leadership, and service while supporting educational, civic, and social initiatives. Kappa Nu Sigma Alumane Chapter proudly serves the San Fernando Valley community. 

 Epsilon Phi Chapter at California State University, Northridge (CSUN)

Kappa Nu Sigma currently has the pleasure of advising one undergraduate chapter: Epsilon Phi Chapter at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). 

We welcome enthusiastically levelheaded students seeking lifelong membership in an extraordinary organization. If you’re interested in creating and expanding your professional network, building transferable social skills in a team environment and maintaining a “Gold Standard” on the CSUN campus, we’d love to hear from you.

You must be a full-time student at CSUN, possess a minimum 2.7 cumulative grade point average and be civic-minded. The Epsilon Phi Chapter at California State University, Northridge was chartered on November 18, 1973 as the first African American Sorority on campus. The chapter has a rich history and legacy. The chapter actively participates in national programs with the advising graduate chapter, Kappa Nu Sigma Chapter, as well as hosting impactful events on their own.
